Decision

The heart she never thought she had wrenched painfully with every scream he emitted. She couldn't console him, the pain wasn't ever going to ebb away. Her mind raced but no answer came to her... save for one. No, she promised herself she would never allow him to be turned, to preserve his humanity... and yet she could see no other way. Her selfish soul desired his existence, she couldn't let go. She wouldn't. Without regards for the aftermath upon herself, what the poison would do to her, Dusk leaned into Skilar's neck and drank the tainted blood.
His body began to twitch and spasm, the screams were more murderous than ever before, and it was all Dusk could do to keep from letting go. Slowly, the effects of the poisoned blood began to build up until it started attacking her body full force. Her instincts willed her to break away; she fought to keep going until he was completely devoid of the poison. Tears streamed down her face, not only in response to the pain, but to think that this would be the last of Skilar's humanity she would ever have to remember by...
Finally, it was done. She was able to extract all the tainted blood and at last released Skilar from her grasp, watching as the agonizing transformation from human to vampire took hold before her eyes. Pain, everywhere in her body, forced her unto the ground as she curled into a ball as though it would help relieve the torturous agony. She closed her eyes as the pain intensified and her vision turn hazy, content with the promise of death...

  1. Lucian would have never thought he would see the day Dusk Roseland, cold hearted queen of vampires commit an act of pure selfless love. This is what had brought him here. He was drawn to her scene. He didn't know why.
He walked towards her curled form. He walked past the human now turning vampire.
He knelt beside Dusk and raised her head, his demonic eyes staring intently into hers.
"You have done the unexpected Dusk. You saved your mate even when you claim to have no heart. Do you want to continue living?" He asked quietly.

  2. Oh, Lucian, thought Dusk... There is apparently a lot about me you've yet to learn. But what did he care? It would have been better had he not known her whereabouts at all. To think, the last thing she would see before her death would be Lucian... she laughed weakly.
"No," was her reply. It could be worse, she thought... it could have been Mushin.

  3. Of course you do. He once felt something for the vampire. If it were love he didn't know, but he couldn't see her die like this.
He leaned in, Dusk's eyes widened slightly expecting a ... kiss? He smiled devilishly as he pierced the tender flesh in her neck with his fangs. She gasped quietly as he drank the tainted blood. He shuddered slightly at the bitter taste. Why he was saving her escaped him. Some inner force drove him to do this one act of kindness. Was Nahia telling the truth? . . . Was he . . . half angel?
He shook the thought away as he drank as much of the tainted blood as he could. He pulled away, looking into Dusks eyes. There were many questions within them that he ignored. He bit into his wrist and placed it unto her pale lips. At first she refused, but her instincts took over and a slight hiss escaped his lips as she began to drink furiously.

  4. It was barbaric; she was not one fond of blood but she knew her food preferences would not help the current situation, so she drank and drank as much as she could. Perhaps he knew the desperation inside of her and saw through her lie; but why should it matter? What could possibly have made him care enough to save her? She couldn't know, so she merely concluded her confusion: "He's a demon," she thought. "He does whatever he wants and without reason... I can almost be certain this shall not happen a second time."
She finally let go, unable to handle the distaste of the blood. It was not enough, she knew, but it was all she could do to stop herself from upchucking the blood anyway. She shoved aside his arm and sat herself upright as she said, "Enough."

  5. "Sure." Was his only reply. He stood. He knew it was not enough, but he wasn't about to push her. He was already disgusted in himself at helping her. He looked over at the human who was now writhing in pain from the change.
"Good luck with that I suppose. Have fun. You speak of this to no one. Understood?" He spared a short glance at Dusk.

  6. Dusk smirked. "I can't... promise anything... But I'll humor you... and let you keep what... you think is left of your pride." She stood, stumbling a bit, but regaining her balance and walked past Lucian with her head held high. She heard him snort in a snide effort of laughter; she payed him no mind. She returned to kneeling beside the writhing form that was Skilar Evensin. In an attempt to comfort him, she made to cradle his head in her arms. And, though she should have anticipated it, he lunged toward her face and pierced her neck with his new vampire teeth. Dusk betrayed a small gasp, but otherwise remained silent as the life was slowly being drained out of her once more.

  7. Fuck... should he? No.... yes.... fuck.... His indecision was stupid. He closed the distance between them and yanked Ski off of Dusk. Skilar growled at Lucian which smirked in response. Fucker needs blood, he thought to himself. He was only one demon. . . he wasn't an endless supply of blood, but he would not die as easily without it. He grasped Ski by the throat, a small growl of protest arose from the weakened Dusk. It was the only thing he could do so that Ski would not bite him yet, he brought him closer so that now Dusk and he was at arms lengths of Lucian. He bit into both his wrist. It didn't take Skilar long for him to latch on. Dusk took some persuading. Eventually he got her to drink.
And so now there he sat. . . two vampires drinking from him. He began to wonder why the fuck he cared? Why did he take the time to try to save them both? He didn't know, all he knew was that they were draining him fast. He was sure though, that Dusk was now just drinking to spite him.
He let out a low hiss as Skilar bit in deeper. God. . . just kill him now. . .

  8. Dusk broke away, choking. "Dammit!" She wiped her mouth, throwing the ugliest expression she could muster Lucian's way. "You're being creepy, Lucian. Thanks for the help... but seriously, butt out. I had it handled."
"Save it, vampire," he hissed back, as he pushed Dusk away from him and Ski.
"He's my responsibility, demon. Hand him over!"
"Are you fucking kidding me? Do you have a death wish or something?"
Dusk glared at him and Lucian threw his head back in a huff. What the hell? You don't care so just get the fuck out of here, she thought.
"I don't need a demon to humor me, especially one who's only out for himself. So go already!" she bellowed.

  9. God the woman was crazy.
"Shut up vampire, and stop self pitying your damned self. The world doesn't revolve around. . . you" A sudden dizziness took Lucian. He growled at Skilar who had somehow managed to pull Lucian's hand closer to him. He shook his head.
"Look at you! Let me have him. Now demon!" Dusk voice rang through the room.
"Oh just shut the fuck up woman!"
Dusk stared at him, her expression blank. Well at least she fucking listened.

  10. She hated the fact she couldn't figure out his intentions. There had to be a catch; she was sure he wouldn't live this day down until she repaid him. Yea, that had to be it.
"What do you want, Lucian?" He sighed, exasperated, as she spoke again. A small flicker of a smirk crossed her face. "Skilar's soul? Mine?" She rolled her eyes as she said it, almost in a painful sense of irony... She gazed back at Lucian, he did not meet her eyes and refused to respond. Staring at him for several seconds, she spoke again. "Get your debt now and go. I'd rather get it out of the way sooner than later."

  11. What did he want?
    "Nothing." He said.
She stared at him unbelieving. He didn't care what she thought, he didn't even care that he wanted to do good for once. Why question it?
"Stop questioning me woman. Just let me do this fucking deed in peace." He shuttered as Skilar's grip strengthened, he was getting stronger, that was good sign right?
He turned his face slightly so Dusk would not see him wince as his arm numbed.
Dusk then went on a tangent... going off about some nonexsising reason he had to be doing this.
He stared expressionlessly as she shouted. Perhaps she was simply taking out her pent up emotions on him, he didn't know and he didn't care. It seemed like an eternity before he finally spoke up, "Dusk... I.. think .. he's d.. done." He attempted to pull his hand away but Ski was reluctant to let go. He winced as Ski's teeth ripped even deeper into Lucian's arm. Dusk let out an exasperated sigh as she moved to remove Ski. Skilar turned and snapped at Dusk, his eyes crazed with blood lust. Lucian tried to pull his hand away but Skilar's grip tightened as he turned back to drink.
"The fuck! Get. . . off!" Lucian growled and Ski. He didn't listen. Something snapped within Lucian. He bared his fangs as he grabbed Skilar's throat and tore him off. He slammed the new vampire onto the ground. Ski snarled at him, his new claws scratching at Lucian.
Lucian sent a low warning growl to him. This was not going to end well.

  12. "Enough!" boomed Dusk's voice and remarkably, Skilar faltered in his assaults. It was amazing for he was quite literally frozen in place, poised in a striking position. Dusk was not satisfied. Though newborn vampires respected authority, they had no qualms against battling for power. She considered having him stand there a couple years for him to cool off, but decided against it.
    Sighing, she commanded, "Come."
And he was gone. Swiftly, and with immense grace, Dusk dodged his oncoming attack. He pursued her with a flurry of attacks, acting upon instinct alone. Each blow was easily deflected and dodged, though she never struck back. She hoped to drag the fight out long enough to wear him out and see if she could revive the old Skilar within. Several minutes into the fight, however, she realized she had underestimated the stamina of a newborn vampire and soon she was barely evading his blows with subtle scratches. She couldn't find it in herself to strike back. If this fight held on any longer, Skilar wouldn't be the one worn out...

  13. He should have left then but he found himself moving swiftly toward the fight. He tackled Ski down, holding him in place with little effort. Skilar squirmed and hissed at Lucian.
    He growled in response.
"Are you going to stand there and look pretty or are you going to handle the boy?" He yelled at Dusk. Another wave of dizziness took Lucian and he shook his head to snap out of it, his grip slightly loosened. Skilar threw Lucian off of him in one swift move. Before Lucian could react Skilar had descended upon him, fangs bared, he sunk his teeth into Lucians neck. The demon roared in anger as he rolled, shaking Skilar off. He pinned the new vampire down, a single hand held him by his throat. The two males fought for control. Blood shed everywhere, and Lucian, could not take much longer.

  14. "Dammit!" she screamed and threw caution to the wind as she entered the fight. Dusk made a point to not be the one throwing the blows and instead set up Skilar as easy prey for Lucian to handle. Lucian noticed this and seemed to engage in playful banter throughout the fight.
"Can't stand knowing you might kill him?" he would say.
"Go fuck yourself," would be her reply.
"The all powerful vampire queen can't tame a newborn?"
"The selfish son of Lucifer can't butt out of other people's business?!"
    And Lucian would laugh.

  15. They moved in sync, blocking and dealing blows to the new born vampire. He was enjoying himself greatly though Dusk preferred to get it over with soon.
He sighed heavily as he decided to end it. His favorite show was about to come on and frankly, he was tired and bored with the crazed bastard. In one swift move Lucian struck Skilar's neck. The vampire fell to the ground unconscious. They both stood there, vampire and demon, side by side, breathing heavily at their exertion.
"Well. . . i am done here. . . you're. . . welcome sweet cheeks. . . I..m. . . going to go now." He felt like a drunk as he stumbled a couple of times, the blood loss and fight was finally catching up to him.
Dusk laughed, he shot her a menacing glare.
"Fuck you Dusk. . .again" That silenced her. He laughed joyfully as he disappeared, suddenly exhausted and worn.
